OUR PROGRAMS
All First Leaps Together programs are specifically designed to meet the individualized needs of each student. Our days are built around purposefully planned activities and events that support growth in all areas of development. A child's work is play, and our experienced teaching staff provides meaningful guidance to ensure that all students learn through observation, engagement, and hands-on participation. We focus on fostering a sense of self-confidence, developing a connection to one's community and environment, remembering to be helpful, kind, and caring towards others, and fostering a lifetime love of learning. Each program works towards these goals at the appropriate developmental stage for it's students.
TADPOLE I and TADPOLE II - Toddler Program 12-36mons
Our Tadpoles start their day with center-based choice activity time, where they are able to choose from purposefully set out activity areas and engage with peers, while guided by their teachers. Circle time allows for stories, songs, and games related to teaching objectives, and an art project and outdoor time rounds out the fun! A morning snack is provided for tadpole2 friends, and tadpole1 friends bring this from home. The tadpoles eat a lunch brought from home at noon time. After lunch we transition to rest/nap time before additional center-based activities, story time, and outdoor play. Special days and guest speakers enhance the learning experience throughout the year.
FROGLETS - Preschool Program 3-4yrs
Circle time is where the Froglets begin their days. This is a chance to say hello, sing songs, share thoughts and feelings, and discuss what is happening at school. Next, center-based activities give the Froglets a very important opportunity to practice emerging skills in cooperative play. A guided project, focused story time, meaningful games, and a provided snack are all part of the morning fun. Those staying will have lunch after the noon dismissal and then the children are given a chance to rest or nap so they are ready for a full afternoon at school. Special days and guest speakers enhance the learning experience throughout the year.
FROGS - Pre-Kindergarten Program 4-5yrs
The Frogs get things started with circle time. Greeting each other, guided practice with the calendar, looking at each community member's job for the day, and show and tell opportunities are all on the meeting agenda! Next, the group moves on to center-based choice activities, where individualized guidance and opportunities to play with friends are given. This is followed by a purposefully planned project that meets the teaching objectives at hand, then a well deserved snack and outdoor play. Those staying for the afternoon move to lunch. After lunch we are ready for a full afternoon, engaged in additional guided projects, activities, and interactive play.
The frogs are a busy group, we have guest speakers, special days, science projects, cooking opportunities, and field trips throughout the year to enhance the learning experience and to fully prepare our students for Kindergarten.
